Description
This tool will reset a device from an unresponsive condition where the device Front Panel displays the message "Do Not Power Down during Update". This issue may occur when wireless connectivity is lost during a web services product firmware update. It is critical that you read all of the install instructions before using this tool. You may want to print the instructions prior to running the tool.

This tool fixes an error condition in your device firmware, where the device front panel becomes unresponsive and displays "Do not Power Down during Update" message.
Installation instructions
BeforeStarting:
- A working printer software installation on your PC is required toinstall this tool.
- If your printer is connected using a wireless connection and thisupdate fails to install, please connect your printer to your PC with a USBcable and try again. You can switch back to using your wireless connectionafter the update is complete (see instructions below).
- This utility is reusable. Please save it on your system in caseyou need it in the future.
DeviceRecovery Tool Steps:
1. Download the Device Recovery Tool to an appropriate location on yoursystem.
2. Double click on the downloaded file to start the extraction andinstallation.
3. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems, you may be prompted toenter Administrator credentials if your login privileges do not haveadministrator rights. If you are an administrator, you may be promptedfor permission to continue with the installation. Please select tocontinue the process.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the installation. Ifyou see the success screen with the following message at the end of theinstallation, "Device Update Successful", press the "Close"button to finish the printer reset.
5. Wait 30 seconds
6. Turn off your device by pressing the power button. If the unit does notpower down, turn off your printer by disconnecting the printer from the A/Cpower outlet.
7. Reconnect your printer back to the A/C power outlet. Your devicewill be ready after the restart is complete.
Note: If your printer wasoriginally installed using wireless connection and you switched to a USBconnection to install this Recovery Tool, follow these steps to change the“Default Printer” setting to restore the wireless connection as the defaultprinter.
1. Navigateto the operating system “Printers” or “Devices and Printers” folder (variesbased on your operating system).
2. Right-clickon the printer you would like to set as default printer. Select the “Set asdefault printer” option.
3. (Optional)Additionally, you can delete the printer icon for the USB printer connectionyou created. The additional icon for the USB connection to the printer will notharm your system, but will not be a functional connection for your printerunless you leave the USB cable connected. To delete, find the printericon connected through USB in the “Printers” or “Devices and Printers” folder.Right-click on the printer icon and select “Delete”. Please make surethat your wireless connected printer is working before deleting the USB printericon.
